First Game

Bryce's first game was total chaos. To be expected, yes, but more than I originally knew. The purpose of the league is to teach the fundamentals of basketball. The teams are supposed to take turns bringing in the ball, taking it down the court, passing then shooting (i.e. no stealing, etc.)

Well, turns out we were playing street ball instead! Two kids on the opposite team were really good, repeatedly stealing the ball and making most of the shots they attempted. Poor Bryce stood there with a bewildered look on his face for the whole first quarter! But, he quickly caught on and got into the game. At halftime, our coaches decided to play by the "new" rules. Alex told Bryce, "I don't care what you do, just GET THAT BALL!" And he did! He walked right up to that kid, took the ball out of his hands, ran down the court (they don't have to dribble), and shot the ball! Of course he didn't get anywhere near the basket, but he knew exactly what he was supposed to do, so I was a proud mama.

This week's game should be a little more mundane, but it was fun to see the kids getting aggressive last week.
