Yesterday, Bryce went to the dentist for the first time. I was really afraid it was going to be a nightmare... I mean, everyone hates going to the dentist, right? We chose a pediatric dentist recommended by a friend, and that was definitely the right move!
Bryce's new dentist is just a cover for Disney World. Seriously, I'm not sure how much dentistry is actually being practiced because they place is like crack for kids. There are more toys, video games, movies, stickers, etc etc than you can shake a stick at... which he LOVED.
Usually, new 2 year old patients get a tour of the office then a "lap visit". (For all you sick-o readers, a lap visit is when the kid sits on the parent's lap and the dentist just takes a quick peek at their teeth.) Anyway, because I'm hard core and believe that he should at least TRY to have a big boy visit with teeth cleaning, xrays, and flouride treatment, he did! And he did GREAT. There's an old lady named Gammy that takes the xrays, then one of the hygenists cleaned his teeth (very quickly, obviously) and did a foam flouride treatment. After a quick peek by the dentist, he was free to play in the Chuck E Cheese-esque office while I had a parent consultation with the dentist. Bottom line, great checkup! No cavities or concerns, so he goes back in 6 months.
You should see all the freebies he came home with - light up Spiderman toothbrush, 2 matchbox cars, ball, goodie bag, balloon, and 2 stickers. See? Disney World!
